James did is first training at the college of art and industrial design in 1955 n.d.d,course his mother died and he was unable to finish is course not having studio experience he was unable to do what he loved from a child.
James was 18 without work and after a few shop jobs he started for the G.P.O and trained as a telephone engineer later after operation that put him out of action he picked up his brushes and started to paint again he became a friend of the queens artist pietro annigoni who became his mentor he painted the telephone managers portrait , followed by peter lambert B.E.M. Pipe major for T/A since those days james had more james also painted the lord mayor of newcastle other success he had a painting shown in Times Square New York by Global Art.
James loves colour and loves to tell a story in the detail he is very versatile and accepts commissions portraits pets,landscape ,seascapes.
