My work is inspired by the environment in which I live in the Tyne Valley. Having trained in research science I am inspired to investigate and create in the cross-over between art and science.
Using organic materials and observing the cycles and patterns inherent in the natural world I create pieces where the medium is dictated by the subject - painting, photography, cyanotypes, etching, knitting and twine have all been part of my practice. Having taught art history in adult education I continue to give talks to a variety of groups e.g. U3A, art and photography organisations. I curate art exhibitions for Shepherds Dene Retreat House, changing exhibitions 3 monthly and inviting professional and gifted amateur artists and photographers and community groups to participate. I am becoming increasingly interested in combining text and visual images in my work.
