Network was established in 1992 as an independent association of professional artists living and working in Northumberland. It's aim is to provide a service to the artists individually and collectively through networking and a programme of opportunities and events to aid and further their practise. It promotes economic growth in the artistic community, especially through the hugely successful Art Tour which is held annually during the summer months, with associated events before Christmas. As many as 80 artists open their studios to the public across Northumberland. Visitors have the chance to see the whole creative process, talk to artists and purchase work as well as enjoying a day out in the countryside.

Membership is approximately 180 and a wide range of disciplines is represented, including painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, textiles, calligraphy, paper making, jewellery, graphic design, bookbinding, glassmaking and installation pieces.
